Liturgical Ministry

“The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the church is directed; it is also the source from which all its power flows.” -CSL, 10

The Church’s mission requires the participation of everyone – both in worship and in prayer. The Holy Spirit has dispersed gifts throughout the community. The gathering of these many gifts shows the diversity of the Holy Spirit and the life of the community that has received them in order to share them among the people of God.

Liturgical ministers are motived by a desire to imitate the love and service of Jesus Christ. Whether bishop, priest, or deacon; whether extraordinary minister of Holy Communion or reader; whether music director, leader of song, or choir member; whether altar server, sacristan, greeter, or minister of hospitality, all need the proper motivation if they are to bring their ministry to life. They need to be motivated by the example of Jesus Christ who “did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mt 20:28)
