Middle School Youth Group

Our Middle School Youth Group offers opportunities throughout the year for youth in Grades 6-8 to meet other middle schoolers, get involved in outreach, and have fun in a safe and spiritually enriched environment.  All middle school youth are welcome, whether attending a Catholic or non-Catholic school.

Generally, the Middle School Youth Group meets on the third Friday of the month at 7 PM.  Please check this website and the bulletin for updates on dates and times.  Locations and venues (in person or virtually) may change throughout the year due to COVID-19 restrictions and limitations.  Additional activities such as outings and service opportunities may be added as COVID-19 restrictions allow.

Monthly Gathering
7:00-8:00 PM, Online

On Ash Wednesday, we sometimes hear the words, “Remember, that you are dust, and to dust you shall return” before we are marked/sprinkled with ashes.   Last month, we talked about how we are each fearfully and wonderfully made in the image and likeness of God.  Some questions were raised as to how the story of man’s creation in Genesis 2:7 fits with scientific evidence on the evolution of man.  Were we literally created from the dirt? As promised, we will spend some time to discuss this topic further.  After, we will play some games and end in prayer.  If you need the Google Meet link, please email youth4ctk@ctkgb.org.

Forms

At Christ the King Parish, we are committed to providing a safe environment for all our participants, youth and adults.  Due to COVID-19 safety precautions and notices, all minor youth are required by the Archdiocese of Baltimore to have the following documents signed by their legal parent or guardian before participating in Parish events:

Assumption of Risk Form
Waiver Form
Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement Form
Acceptable Use Policy for the Internet and Technology Tools

Youth cannot attend gatherings without these forms signed by a legal parent or guardian.  For more information about these forms and to download copies, CLICK HERE. NOTE: These forms only need to be filled out once for the year.

Cost

There is no fee to join the Middle School Youth Group or participate in the monthly Friday gatherings. Some additional activities may require a cost to participate (for example, snow tubing). In such instances, costs will be communicated to parents as soon as known. Other general overhead costs such as supplies and hospitality are provided on a donated basis or covered by the parish as the budget allows.

If you would like to make a general donation (any amount) to financially support the Middle School Youth Group, you can either:

  1. Send a check made payable to “Christ the King” and mail it to Christ the King, ATTN: Michele Dougherty, Youth Ministry, 126 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie, MD 21060; or
  2. Donate online as a One Time Gift using Faith Direct (http://ctkgb.org/contributions/). Please be sure to designate the gift as for Middle School Youth Ministry in the “Notes” box to indicate the donation is for Youth Ministry.

Any amount will be recorded in your annual parish offering total.  A financial donation is not required, but is greatly appreciated!

Parent Chaperones

All parents wishing to help out with our Middle School Youth Group, including chaperoning events or helping drive teens to an event, must comply with the Archdiocese policies for Child Protection (https://www.archbalt.org/child-and-youth-protection/).
